How to View Delivery Logs

Introduction

Viewing delivery logs is crucial for tracking the progress of your email campaigns and ensuring that your messages are sent correctly. BetterMerge provides detailed delivery logs that show you exactly which emails have been sent, their status, and other important information. This guide will walk you through the steps to view and understand these logs.

Step 1: Open the Campaign Report

Click Campaigns in the left menu of the web app or the Google Sheets add-on, then click the campaign you want to check. The campaign report opens on the Overview tab, with a status badge and the Performance counts.

Step 2: Open the Delivery Logs Tab

In the row of tabs under the campaign name, click Delivery logs. The tab lists the delivery events for the campaign, newest first. Each row shows:

• Timestamp: When the event happened.
• Recipient: The email address the message was sent to.
• Event: What happened, shown as a badge such as Sent or Sending error. If your account has bounce detection set up, you may also see Delivered, Bounced, or Spam complaint. See Reply and bounce tracking.
• Action: A View in Gmail link that opens the sent message in your Gmail account.

Use Previous and Next at the bottom to move between pages. Click Refresh on the Overview tab if you are watching a campaign that is still sending.

Note

Opening a message with View in Gmail loads its tracking image, so it can count as an open if you turned on open tracking.

Step 3: Monitor Real-Time Logs in Google Sheets

In addition to the campaign report, BetterMerge updates your Google Sheet as the campaign runs. Two columns are added to the right of your data, and their names include the campaign name:

• STATUS (Campaign name): The latest status of each row, such as SENT, ERROR, or OPENED.
• LOGS (Campaign name): A line for each event with its timestamp, for example Email sent.

Sheets used by campaigns created before March 2025 may still show METADATA instead of LOGS. It holds the same information.
