Multiply complex numbers using the IMPRODUCT function.

IMPRODUCT Function

The IMPRODUCT function in Google Sheets multiplies multiple complex numbers.

Syntax

IMPRODUCT(factor1, [factor2, ...])
  • factor1: The first complex number to multiply. This is a required parameter.
  • factor2, ...: Additional complex numbers to multiply. These are optional.

Examples

  1. Multiplying Two Complex Numbers

Multiply the complex numbers 3+2i and 1+i:

=IMPRODUCT("3+2i", "1+i")

This will output 1+5i.

  1. Multiplying Multiple Complex Numbers

Multiply the complex numbers 3+2i, 1+i, and 2-i:

=IMPRODUCT("3+2i", "1+i", "2-i")

This will output 12+4i.

Notes

  • The function can handle multiple complex numbers in one call.
  • Complex numbers should be provided as strings in the form “a+bi”.
  • IMSUM: Add multiple complex numbers.
  • IMDIV: Divide one complex number by another.
