Senders and Gmail Aliases

By default, BetterMerge sends campaigns from the Google account you signed in with. With senders, you can also send from:

  • a Gmail alias, such as sales@yourcompany.com, that you have already set up in Gmail’s “Send mail as” settings; or
  • an additional Google account, such as a colleague’s or a second mailbox you manage.

Each campaign can use a different sender, so you can run outreach from the right address without signing in and out.

Go to Settings → Senders. You will see:

  • your Primary account (the one you signed in with);
  • any Secondary Google accounts you connected; and
  • any Alias addresses under the account they belong to.

The top of the page shows how many senders you have used out of your plan’s limit.

An alias lets you send from another address that your Gmail account is allowed to send as.

In Gmail, open Settings → Accounts and Import → Send mail as and add the address. Gmail sends a verification email; complete it before continuing. BetterMerge can only use an alias after Gmail has verified it.

  1. In Settings → Senders, click Add Sender.
  2. Choose Gmail Alias.
  3. Enter the email address and, optionally, a sender name recipients will see.
  4. Choose which of your Google accounts the alias belongs to.
  5. Tick the confirmation that you have added and verified the address in Gmail.
  6. Click Add alias.

  1. Open the web dashboard at app.bettermerge.com. Additional Google accounts can only be connected from the web dashboard, not from inside the Google Sheets add-on.
  2. In Settings → Senders, click Add Sender and choose Google Account.
  3. Click Continue with Google and sign in to the account you want to add.

The account is added as a Secondary sender. It sends through its own Gmail account, so its emails appear in that account’s Sent folder, and replies go to that account’s inbox.

In the campaign editor, find Sending address and pick the sender you want. If you do not choose one, the campaign sends from your primary account.

You can also edit the sender name for the campaign there. Before you launch, the campaign review shows exactly which address the emails will come from.

In Settings → Senders:

  • Edit Sender Name changes the display name recipients see.
  • Remove Alias removes an alias from BetterMerge. It does not change your Gmail settings.
  • Disconnect Account removes a secondary Google account from BetterMerge.

If You Change to a Plan With Fewer Senders

Section titled “If You Change to a Plan With Fewer Senders”

If your plan allows fewer senders than you have set up, the extra senders become inactive, and campaigns use your primary email address instead. Upgrade to Plus or Pro to use them again.
